Barney Tabor is a classically trained composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Leeds. He works primarily as a pianist and accordion player both as a soloist and in collaboration with other artists. Having trained for a BA in classical piano and an MA in music composition at LCoM he has gone on to explore a wide variety of musical styles including Tango, klezmer, contemporary classical and various rock styles. In 2017 he formed the klezmer inspired band, Kibitz, alongside violinist Robin Timmis. The bands highlights include preforming at Latitude festival, Featuring in Simon Glass’ BBC documentary The jews of Leeds- A Very British History and giving a klezmer workshop at St. Andrews University
As a composer he has contributed to game and film scores. He has also written music for Kibitz and performed his own electronic music for art installations such as light night Leeds 2023.
In 2023 Barney travelled to Thailand to work as an accordionist performing and recording with a punk rock band. Currently he is collaborating with Chilean opera singer, Valentina Díaz. Together they have put together a program of traditional Argentinian Tango music inspired by singers such as Carlos Gardel and libertad lamarque.
